Topaz Photo Review 2026: Worth It? My Honest Test Opinion

Test 1. Enhance AI Art

The improvement is not cleary as expected. Everything still remains a blurry look.

I then change the upscale model to Low Resolution. Thius brings me clear improvement in overall sharpness and structure. Facial details are more defined, and the image is noticeably cleaner.

Test 2. Deblur an Old Photo

Based on the experience from Test 1, I first used Autopilot, then applied Face Restore (using Restore Face v2, Realistic option). The results were quite good. Facial structure was significantly recovered. At higher zoom levels, fine textures became slightly less detailed, with some smoothing in hair and skin, but everything still looked realistic and true to the original image.

Test 3. Enhance a Noisy Photo of a Bird

Settings used: Autopilot. The result was balanced with good detail retention. Feathers and branches remained sharp and natural-looking. The software also provides adjustable noise removal strength, but the default setting was already excellent.

Test 4. Upscale a Cropped Low-Quality AI Image

Unfortunately, Topaz Photo delivers disappointing results. The text became distorted, and the entire image had a strange smudged appearance. I tried several other models, but none produced satisfactory results.
